Recreation Swim
This is a non-organized "free-play" time for participants of all ages to play and swim in the pool. During most of this time in the summer, the diving board and shallow end are scheduled to be available for use. However, during year round programming, areas of the pool are limited during recreation swim. Children under 50" tall must have an adult accompany them into the water, and must stay within arm's reach of each other at all times.
Lap Swim Etiquette
These are dedicated lanes for adults and youth over the age of 12 to swim laps. Please check the monthly calendar for the number of lanes available during lap swim and practice lap swim etiquette so that all swimmers can share and enjoy a safe swim experience!
SHARING LANES
Lap lanes are often shared, and each lane can accommodate multiple people. You are not guaranteed your own lane.
ENTERING A LANE
When entering a lane with someone already swimming,
always enter feet first — never jump or dive in.
AWARENESS
Before entering, make sure the swimmers in the lane are aware of your
presence to avoid collisions and to establish a swimming pattern.
CONTINUOUS PROGRESS
Lap swimming requires continuous forward movement.
Stopping in the middle of the lane is discouraged, please rest at the wall instead.
SWIMMING PATTERN
For 2 swimmers, splitting the lane, staying on the right or left is common.
For 3 or more swimmers, circle swimming is standard;
always stay on the right side of the lane.
LANE SPEED
• If a lane is empty, feel free to use it.
• If all lanes are occupied, choose one that matches your speed. Take a moment to observe
swimmers and their pace.
• If lanes are designated by speed, you may be asked to switch lanes accordingly.
PASSING
• When passing another swimmer, always pass on their left side.
• If you are being passed, move close to the lane line and slow slightly to allow safe passing.
Day Camps
Day Camps and organized groups may not arrive to the pool for recreation swim without a reservation, even during open Recreation Swim times. All groups must call the pool manager at (818) 937-7433 at least one (1) week in advance of their desired swim time. It is preferable that groups call ahead before summer begins to secure swim dates.

All participants MUST have a parent/guardian signed Release of Liability Form before they will be allowed in the pool.

Forms may be downloaded by clicking here, or on the image to the right.
